At Fox Den we incorporate the best practices of high-performance athletics. This involves taking a sport specific approach that blends project management with current applied science, while balancing the unique needs of individual athletes. A careful goal setting process is used to identify desired outcomes, before formulating a detailed plan to achieve them. The approach is constantly evaluated based on real time data, results, and changes in circumstance. Adjustments are implemented as required. After the program concludes, the process is scrutinized so that lessons learned can be applied going forwards.
At Fox Den this approach has several key outcomes:
• Client Education
Education is our first goal in every activity. Clients who understand the “why” are engaged and provide insightful feedback.
• Goal Setting
Clients are educated on how to set effective short and long term objectives using tools including: goals types (process, performance, and outcome), “SMART” framework, cost-risk analysis, data analysis, and understanding goal difficulty and proximity.
• Data Collection
Smart adjustments can only be made if consistent data is available. Clients are taught how to keep training logs that record relevant data in a clear, consistent manner.
Programming will be informed by video analysis of techniques, competition, and training.
• Risk Management and Injury Prevention
Reaching sports form for a competition (or just staying in shape) involves managing risk to achieve desired outcomes. Our clients are taught how to get the best possible results with the least effort and risk. This involves careful consideration of the athletes’ goals before selecting the most appropriate exercises and training methods. These are incorporated into a program that changes overtime to achieve the desired short-and-long term objectives.
• Nutrition
Our clients are educated on the basics of nutrition as it relates to performance, muscle building, weight loss and injury prevention. Nutritionist input is incorporated as required.
